Our mission is "Nurturing the Spiritual, Educational, Social and Physical Development of Children and Youth in Uptown Harrisburg."
Our main focus is to provide a safe place for children to learn and grow. Children ages 5-11 have been participating in the camp program since 1993. In 2015 a Teen Camp for youth ages 12-15 was instituted. Both camps are full day programs providing a variety of experiences to help our children grow and develop.
The heart of the program is centered around the 7 Pillars of Character:
The program director oversees a staff of bright and energetic counselors who are dedicated and committed to the well being, safety and development of our youth.
St. Barnabas is a non-profit 501 (c)3 organization and all donations help subsidize tuition, going directly to services for the children. All contributions are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
The celebration was held at Goodwin Life Center Saturday, October 20, 2018. We were honored to have James Crummel, anchor of the ABC 27 News, as our Master of Ceremonies. His first job was a counselor at St. Barnabas so it was our privilege to have him return to help us celebrate.
Respect, Caring, Fairness, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Citizenship and Forgiveness are among the 7 Pillars of Character presented by children. These are the foundation for the program here at St. Barnabas.
We were honored to have many Harrisburg dignitaries and supporters speak about the 7 Pillars of Charcter. These are the building blocks of St. Barnabas' program.
Children from the summer camp had a special presentation for everyone.
